Mmmmmm, can you smell that. Fall is in the air, leaves are turning colors and slowing making their way off the trees and to the ground, days are shorter, nights are cooler and apples are in full bloom. When fall hits, it’s my favorite time for baking and using the fall harvest to do just that. Nothing says fall better, to me, than a homemade skillet apple crisp. YUM!! Fresh from the trees, to the mixing bowl, to the oven, to the plate and then, my mouth!
You can use a cast iron skillet, or any baking dish you have on hand. I love using a skillet as it’s a fun way to bake, and makes it feel more “homemade” to me. And, if you like to bake for others as a gift, a yummy apple crisp in a new skillet that your gift recipient can keep is a perfect fall treat for anyone.
