Whole Wheat Pita Bread

Ingredients
  • 1 cup lukewarm water
  • 2 teaspoons dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon honey or agave
  • 1½ cup whole wheat flour
  • 1¼ cup+1 tablespoon all-purpose flour + extra if needed
  • 1 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
Instructions
  1. Mix water yeast and honey together. Let sit for five minutes. Then add the olive oil
  2. In separate bowl, combine flours salt.Mix the dry and wet ingredients together
  3. knead for about five minutes on a floured surface. Until it is elastic
  4. Make it a ball shape. Place in a oiled bowl and cover with cloth
  5. Let sit for 1 hour
  6. Preheat oven to 450 degrees
  7. Take dough out of bowl. Gently deflate it.
  8. Cut into 8 equal pieces.
  9. Make them into balls
  10. Roll them out to ¼ inch in thickness.
  11. As you do each one, cover the others with a damp cloth to keep from drying out
  12. Place prepared dough on cookie sheet.
  13. Four pitas at a time on the baking sheet
  14. Should be in the oven for about 5 minutes, until they puff up.
  15. Let cool on the cooling rack.
  16. Then enjoy!
