Sometimes you just need a break from peanut butter. And with all the wonderful health benefits of the almighty almond, why not make all natural almond butter.

I love making almond butter. I use it in my baking, or in sauces. It really adds so much flavor while being incredibly nutritious.

6 Health Benefits of Almonds

  1. They are high in monounsaturated fats, fiber, protein and various important nutrients.
  2. Almonds are high in antioxidants that can protect your cells from damage, a major contributor to aging and disease. (Especially if you leave the skin on the almonds).
  3. They are  high in Vitamin E. This is proven to help with heart disease, Alzheimers, and certain forms of cancers.
  4. Almonds can help control blood pressure, and helps stabilize blood sugar levels.It is due to the high levels of magnesium. My husband has high blood pressure, and I made almonds a daily part of his snacking routine.
  5. Eating one or two handfuls a day have been proven to lower LDL cholesterol, and helped with losing belly fat.
  6. Due to their high fiber and protein content while being low in carbs, it leads to weight loss. Nuts give a feeling of satiety, so you are less likely to over eat. Which helps lead to weight loss.

Ways to Use Almond Butter

  1. Almond Butter Noodles. Instead of Peanut Butter Noodles, simply swap the peanut butter for almond butter.
  2. You can use it in a cookie recipe. I have a great flourless peanut butter cookie recipe. I have tried it with almond butter, and they come out awesome!
  3. Use a scoop of it in your morning oatmeal for an extra protein boost.
  4. Add a spoonful to your smoothie
  5. Use it in a no bake energy ball recipe. I usually use peanut butter, but I often switch it up with almond butter or mixed seed butter. All of them tastes great.

Ingredients
  • 3 cups of raw almonds
  • pinch of salt (optional)
  • dash of cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Place almond on baking sheet and toast them for about 10 minutes
  3. Place toasted almonds in a food processor with the S blade
  4. You may have to blend them for up to 20-25 minutes. Depending on the strength of your blender/food processor. Scraping down the side every few minutes. It will look pretty grainy at first. It will come together...trust me!
  5. Once it is blended, place almond butter in the fridge. It can stay in an airtight container for up to a month.
