Here’s an important concept when it comes to working out. If you’re waiting for there to be time in your busy schedule, it’s never going to happen – at least not on a regular basis. You have to make working out part of your schedule. But that doesn’t mean you have to drop everything else.

There are many ways to make it fit. Even joining Find Your Trainer can be a huge help in making the change to add working out to your daily routine.

The first important thing to realize is that there is no right or wrong way to exercise. If getting up 45 minutes early so you can go for a run before work works for you, great. But if it doesn’t, don’t fret it. That run will be just as effective late in the afternoon after work, or even at night on the treadmill.

You also don’t have to do everything in one block of time. Working out in five or ten minute intervals can be just as effective. Do a few stretches when you first get up in the morning and do your sit ups during commercial breaks while you’re watching TV at night. By fitting workouts in here and there throughout the day, you can get a lot done without having to rework your entire schedule.

Of course it helps if you can block out some dedicated time to work out. But if you’re busy, that may take some creative thinking. Getting up early so you can get your workout in before the rest of your day takes over is of course an option. But it isn’t the only one. Schedule a quick workout and a packed lunch at your desk during your lunch break. Go for a walk or head to the gym next door while you’re waiting for your kid at piano lessons. Look through your schedule and find those little pockets of time that would otherwise be wasted. Instead of sitting in your car for 30 minutes to wait on your child, get out and move around.

Last but not least, I want you to realize that it’s ok to take the time to go work out. Making sure you’re in shape and are doing something for yourself makes you a much better parent, spouse and friend. It’s not selfish to schedule in a workout three days a week or head out for a run after work.

Take that time to make sure you stay in shape. Not only will you feel better if you do, chances are you’ll avoid a slew of health issues down the road that would otherwise take you away from your family and loved ones for much longer than the few hours per week you spend working out.

If you struggle with what to do when you do chisel out that time frame in your day to make it fit, check out Find Your Trainer as they help you figure out how to exercise where you want, and when you want. So, between making changes to your daily schedule, and choosing Find Your Trainer, you now made it fit and are on the path to a healthier, happier, fitter you!
